Face-to-face meeting between Trump and Putin is planned
US President-elect Donald Trump said he was preparing a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to “end” the war in Ukraine.
“He wants a meeting and we're arranging it,” Donald Trump said before a meeting with governors belonging to his party at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
“Putin wants us to meet, he's even said so publicly, and we need to end this war, which is a real disaster,” Trump added.
During his annual televised question-and-answer session on December 19, Vladimir Putin had said he was ready to meet the American leader “at any time”.
The Kremlin assured today that Russia had no preconditions for a meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump to discuss a peaceful settlement to the conflict in Ukraine.
“No conditions are necessary. There needs to be a mutual desire and political will to dialogue and solve the current problems through dialogue,” said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov during his daily telephone press briefing.
