Donald Trump sends troops to Mexican border to crack down on illegal immigration
Donald Trump has directed government agencies to prepare to “repel, repatriate, and remove immediately” undocumented migrants attempting to cross the border.
This announcement comes as troops are set to be deployed along the border between the two countries.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Donald Trump is "sending a very strong message" to people around the world with these actions.
During a press conference, she emphasized that border control remains the president’s "top priority."
"If you are thinking about breaking the laws of the United States of America, you will be returned home. You will be arrested. You will be prosecuted," she said.
She also confirmed that 1,500 additional troops would be sent to the Mexican border.
