Did husband push Zoe (33) off famous rock in Ardennes?
In November 2021, Zoë Snoeks, a young Belgian woman of 33, was killed when she fell down during a photo shoot at Le Hérou in Nadrin (Houffalize, in the Belgian province of Luxembourg). Her husband stated that he had lost sight of her for a moment.
Zoë pulled out her smartphone to take a video of the beautiful view. But that clip came to an abrupt end only seconds later because she lost her balance. She fell and landed fifty meters below on the banks of the Ourthe. She died instantly. Joeri J. tried to erase that video on Zoe's smartphone after the tragic fact. He allegedly even contacted professionals to do so. Investigators could not recover the images, but research showed that the filming did indeed stop abruptly. He also did not immediately call emergency services. In addition, he also took the longer instead of the shorter way down to “rush” to his motionless partner. J. did not make a very good turn during his interrogations either, by the way. For example, Het Nieuwsblad notes that he changed his story several times. He also had an affair during their marriage, which he first denied and later reluctantly admitted. In addition, his answer about the fall was also labeled “untruthful” during a lie detector test. Enough elements, therefore, for the prosecution not to believe his version.
From the beginning, the young woman's family doubted the husband's story and requested an additional investigation. After all, according to the family, things had not been going well between the couple for some time. The family also found it strange that the man married again just a year later.
And now the Belgian public prosecutor's office is also certain: Joeri J. (36) deliberately pushed his then-wife Zoe off the cliff to her death. But Joeri J. continues to deny steely, even during the reconstruction of the facts he insisted that it was an accident. Now, more than three years after Zoë's death, the Antwerp public prosecutor wants her husband before the assize court for murder. The man from Lommel must appear before the chambers on Jan. 24. The chamber of indictment (KI) will decide whether there will actually be an assize trial.
