Thieves use explosives and loot large amount of gold
In a spectacular art heist at the Drents Museum in the Dutch city of Assen, thieves made off with a huge amount of gold.
The loot was part of the temporary exhibition Dacia - Rich in Gold and Silver, which was to last until Sunday. More than 650 gold and silver treasures from Romania from the 20th century BC to the third century AD were on display. So reports De Telegraaf.
The thieves used explosives to gain access to the museum.
Among other things, a gold helmet from the 5th century BC, the top piece of the exhibition, and at least three gold bracelets were stolen.
Dutch police have put a large investigation team on the heist. To solve the robbery of these archaeological masterpieces from the Drents Museum, the Dutch police are cooperating with Interpol.
