According to Kiev, Russia is using banned chemical weapons on the front line
Artem Vlasiuk, head of radiological, chemical and biological protection for the civil security forces supporting Ukraine, accuses the Russians of using tear gas on the front line.
According to Artem Vlasiuk, Russia is using chemical weapons on parts of the territory where it's concentrating its efforts, and concealing their use by plowing the ground with its artillery to make the evidence disappear, reports Le Monde.
At a press conference in Kiev on Friday, Vlasiuk claimed that “in total, since the start of the Russian invasion, radiological, chemical and biological reconnaissance units (...) have recorded more than 4,800 cases of the use of dangerous chemicals”. These included CS and CN tear gases. The law of war forbids the use of these weapons.
Still according to Artem Vlasiuk, since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, three Ukrainian soldiers have lost their lives “as a result of poisoning by chemical substances used by the Russians”.
