CIA boss' secret visit to Ukraine
On December 21, CIA chief William Burns met with intelligence officials in Ukraine, as well as with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Bill Burns visited Ukraine on his last trip as CIA director. Throughout this war we have had many meetings and I am deeply grateful for his help,” Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Twitter.
“In general, these meetings aren't made public. All our meetings, whether in Ukraine, in other European countries, in the USA or in other parts of the world, took place without official announcements. However, after his latest visit, it's worth talking openly,” added Zelensky.
President-elect Donald Trump plans to nominate a loyalist from his camp, John Ratcliffe to head the CIA. Ratcliffe was previously director of national intelligence from 2020 to 2021.
