German Minister of Defence: ‘Putin knows how to hit us’
An particular statement by Boris Pistorius, the German defence minister, in some German newspapers: according to him, Germany must be wary of Russia's hybrid attacks.
‘Putin engages in hybrid attacks, and Germany in particular is in the limelight in this regard,’ the politician from the Social Democratic SPD told the reporters from the German Funke media group. According to Pistorius, Moscow carries out attacks to manipulate social media, causing far-right and populist parties to gain popularity.
In Germany, there will be early parliamentary elections in early 2025 and these could be influenced by Russia, according to the defence minister.
According to Pistorius, German infrastructure, its energy supplies, the German presence in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea are possible targets for Russian hybrid attacks.
