Macron, Trump and Zelensky: What if this meeting changed the course of the conflict?
On Saturday, the Elysée Palace confirmed that a meeting between Emmanuel Macron, Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky had indeed taken place in Paris, prior to the ceremony on the occasion of the re-opening of Notre-Dame.
While the new US president-elect was sending out rather negative signals regarding continued support for Ukraine, the meeting is good news for the Ukrainian leader and his country.
“I'm confident that we can develop a common strategy for Ukraine,” said Olaf Scholz.
Indeed, the German chancellor had already expressed optimism about Trump's commitments. He claims to have “already spoken at length on the phone with the future American president” and discussed a common strategy for establishing a peace plan in Ukraine, reports 20 Minutes.
