NATO warns of serious security threat
NATO Secretary-General, Mark Rutte, has warned incoming US President, Donald Trump, that a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine that favors Russia would pose a "serious security threat".
"We cannot have a situation where (North Korea's) Kim Jong Un, the Russian leader, (China's) Xi Jinping and Iran are patting each other on the back because we have a deal that isn't good for Ukraine, because in the long run, there'll be a serious security threat not only to Europe but also to the United States," the Dutchman said in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times.
Mr Rutte conveyed this message to Mr Trump during their meeting in Florida on November 22, during which he tried to convince him that Washington should maintain its support for Kiev after he returns to the White House.
