North Korean troops killed on battlefield according to the US
North Korean troops have been killed in combat against Ukrainian soldiers during clashes taking place in Russia's Kursk region.
Since North Korea sent personnel to Moscow, these would be the first human losses reported by Kim Jong Un's regime, which provided a contingent of 10,000 troops.
According to Ukrainian intelligence services, the GUR, 30 Asian soldiers have been killed or wounded during recent offensives.
However, this information has not been independently verified.
During a press conference with journalists, Pentagon Press Secretary Major General Pat Ryder said that the United States believes North Korean soldiers have participated in the fighting in the Kursk region and have suffered casualties.
Pat Ryder did not provide further details regarding the number of losses but estimated that the troops have been fighting for at least a week.
In recent months, Russian forces have been regaining ground on the eastern front, but they have been unable to retake territory captured by Ukraine in the Kursk region.
