Russia launches offensive against Ukraine's energy sector
Russia attacked Ukraine on Friday with a total of 93 missiles and nearly 200 drones in what Ukrainian President, Volodymir Zelensky, called one of the most massive attacks on Ukraine's energy system in the entire war.
“This is Putin's peace plan, to destroy everything. This is how he wants to negotiate, by terrorizing millions of people,” Mr. Zelenski wrote on social media, explaining that 81 of the missiles fired by Russia could have been shot down by the Ukrainian army.
The Ukrainian head of state added that Russia had used cruise missiles and ballistic missiles in the attack. Eleven of the cruise missiles were intercepted by Western F-16 aircraft received by Kiev.
Ukraine's energy minister said on Friday that Ukraine's energy system was being bombed as part of another massive enemy attack on the sector.
