Two human legs wash ashore in California: investigation launched
On Wednesday, December 25, a human leg was found on the California coast, in the municipality of Palos Verdes Estates (USA).
The following day, investigators discovered a second leg in the same area. An investigation was launched to determine whether these human remains belonged to two fishermen who had gone missing last Monday, December 23. They were aboard a trawler that capsized in the same area, reports 20 Minutes.
While the two fishermen never returned to shore, the wreckage of their boat was found on the Palos Verdes Estates coastline.
Since the discovery of the human remains, a vast combing operation was launched, using cadaver dogs. Aaron Belda, captain of the local police, added: “At the moment, we're not ruling out any hypothesis and we're considering all possibilities, but we have no reason to believe that the two are linked,” referring to the two legs found.
