Emilia Perez wins record number of Golden Globe nominations
The film directed by French filmmaker, Jacques Audiard, has just broken all records with 10 nominations.
Emilia Pérez received ten nominations at the Golden Globes, making it the most nominated comedy or musical film in the history of the awards ceremony. It overtook last year's Barbie and 1972's Cabaret, which each received nine nominations.
Emilia Perez is Jacques Audiard's 10th film. It's a musical comedy set against the backdrop of drug cartels and inspired by the melodrama of telenovelas. The crazy project has already won awards at the Cannes Film Festival, including the collective award for actresses Karla Sofia Gascon, Zoé Saldana and Selena Gomez.
The Golden Globe ceremony will take place on January 5 in Los Angeles.
