Lady Gaga: a victim in the face of a lie
Fifteen years on, this rumor has followed her like a shadow.
In 2010, rumors began to circulate in the United States that the New York-born singer was a man, or had a penis. No proof, no foundation. Just the “gossip” that has dogged Lady Gaga since her rise to fame and the release of her two albums, “The Fame” and “The Fame Monster”.
Although she has never done so before, the 38-year-old star is now speaking out about the rumors surrounding her identity. She does so in the documentary “What's Next? The Future With Bill Gates”, available on Netflix. According to her, it all started with photomontages widely circulated on the net. And if she never paid attention to them, it's because she never suffered from them. In fact, she says she doesn't feel like “a victim of this lie”.
“I've been used to having lies published about me since I was 20. I'm an artist. I think it's pretty funny,” adds the Shallow performer. In 2011, in an interview with CNN, she refused to deny or confirm the rumor, considering it completely uninteresting. “Why on earth am I going to waste my time and issue a press release about whether I have a penis or not? My fans don't care and neither do I!”
