William and Kate in shock: Masked men break into royal estate
On October 13, a burglary disturbed the peace and quiet of the royal estate of Windsor, home to the castle of the same name.
The perpetrators are still at large, local police said on Monday. “No arrests have yet been made," the authorities stressed.
A group of individuals broke into a farm building on the estate and “stole a black pick-up [...] and a red quad bike,” the police said. King Charles III was not in the residence at the time, but Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children were. The entire family was staying at Adelaide Cottage, a house nestled in the heart of the royal estate.
As L'Indépendant reports, the castle is one of the most visited sites in the UK, so the Windsor estate remains under constant surveillance. Daily protection is provided by police officers, some of whom are armed.
According to the Sun, the police had reduced the number of armed officers assigned to Windsor the day before the burglary.
