Abandoned by all, including his wife?
Trump represents a “threat to democracy.” This is what prompted many Republicans to abandon ship and support Kamala Harris.
At the Democratic convention last week, some Republicans, elected members of the Grand Old Party (Republican Party), expressed their anger, not hesitating to say all the bad things they thought of the former President of the United States. FIrst blow.
Within his administration at the White House, between 2016 and 2020, 40 of his 44 closest collaborators also abandoned him, according to La Dépêche. It even seems that Melania, his wife, is also abandoning ship. She has apparently not made any appearances (or almost) alongside Donald Trump for over a year. Second blow.
Party members themselves are withdrawing. In 2020, a movement had emerged: "Republican voters against Trump" (still active). The movement's spokesperson, Rylee Boyd, says: "From Donald Trump's first term, we realized that he represented a danger to democracy. His behavior during Covid had been problematic, and he had not shown much enthusiasm for defending the institutions. And then, on January 6, 2021, the invasion of the Capitol, raised another level and confirmed our fears." That day, his vice-president, Mike Pence, had to flee when rioters tried to attack him. Unsurprisingly, Pence completely disassociated himself from Trump. And, Rylee Boyd continued: "We are horrified by what a second term for Donald Trump could be. He is fueled only by the desire for revenge and has promised to attack all those who have not pledged allegiance to him. This is why, as difficult as it may be, voting for Kamala Harris is essential: we prefer the country to the party."
Is the former tenant of the White House abandoned by all?
