Eurovision Song Contest wants to avoid Joost Klein debacle this year
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has decided to introduce some measures to avoid problems like the ones that existed at the last edition with Dutch candidate Joost Klein.
The Eurovision Song Contest organiser wants to ‘improve the well-being and positive experience of everyone present’. Among other things, backstage there would be an area where performers are not allowed to be filmed and participants will get more rest breaks. EBU reports in a press release.
‘The EBU is improving the communication, well-being and positive experience of everyone attending the Eurovision Song Contest,’ the hopeful message reads.
There will be a new code of conduct and every participant and employee will also be able to turn to a ‘wellbeing manager’ from now on. This person will be the point of contact to ensure a safe, respectful and supportive environment.
The 69th edition of the song contest will take place in Switzerland in 2025.
