Two masked people set Australian synagogue on fire
While some worshippers were present, two people set fire to a synagogue in Melbourne, Australia, very early Friday morning.
Fortunately, those present were able to leave the building in Ripponlea, a suburb of Melbourne, through the back door in time.
Police looking for two suspects
A witness who wanted to enter the synagogue for morning prayers saw 2 men in balaclavas pouring fire accelerant over the building. The suspects also allegedly spread the flammable substance with a broom. A window was also smashed.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese strongly condemned the attack on the synagogue. According to Albanese, it is an anti-Semitic hate crime, designed to spread fear in society.
