After 60 years of not bathing, this man takes a shower that proves fatal
In October 2022, the man considered “the dirtiest man in the world” died at the age of 94, in Iran. The tragedy? He died just after taking a shower. He hadn't washed for 60 years.
Amou Haji was one of those men who didn't want to make up his mind whether to shower in the evening or in the morning - for him, it was a “never” shower.
Amou Haji had spent a hermit's life in Iran, in the province of Fars. It was following a painful sentimental disappointment that he had taken the decision to withdraw from society. According to some media reports, Amou Haji refused to shower for fear of becoming seriously ill; a strange superstition which, in spite of everything, kept him on his feet for many years.
Ten years ago, the Mehr news agency reported: “He's not sensitive to cold or heat, he has never been ill, and although he spends most of the day and night among garbage and dead animals, tests carried out on him show that he's in good health”. It should be noted that the man was nonetheless suffering from trichinosis, an infectious pathology that is triggered by the consumption of raw or undercooked meat.
For a long time, the Iranian had prevented anyone from “making him clean”. He even ran away when some villagers tried to take him to wash up in a van. Years after the event, “Amou Haji nevertheless finally gave in to the pressure..., when villagers took him to a toilet to wash him”, reports Demotivateur. Unfortunately, his concerns proved to be correct, as he fell ill and died shortly after this clean-up.
