Has Biden postponed Ukraine's accession to NATO? That's what Putin says
According to the Russian president, in 2021 Joe Biden proposed that Moscow “postpone Ukraine's accession to NATO by 10-15 years”.
Kiev has long wanted to join NATO. In 2021, Vladimir Putin claims that Joe Biden offered to postpone Ukraine's accession to the Alliance by “10 to 15 years.”
At the time, the Kremlin chief reportedly replied: “I answered reasonably, 'Yes, the country's not ready today. But you will prepare it and you will accept it'”. With regards to Russia, the leader added: “What difference does it make, today, tomorrow or ten years from now."
Indeed, Moscow sees membership as a red line that mustn't be crossed.
