75 years after his adoption, a man meets his biological siblings for the first time
For Christmas, a 75-year-old American received the greatest gift of all: an unexpected family reunion...
As a baby, Dixon Handshaw was adopted in Buffalo, New York (USA). Although he thought he was an only child, the 75-year-old American recently discovered, when ordering his pre-adoption certificate online, that he had four half-brothers and one half-sister.
According to CNN, While perusing his online pre-adoption certificate, Dixon Handshaw was able to get his hands on the name of his biological father, Robert “Bud” Romig. Following a few Google searches, the man found his father's obituary, and came across photos of his siblings.
A meeting on Christmas Eve
While Dixon didn't know the reason for his adoption, he did know that his biological father was a physics student at Cornell University and that his mother was a secretary in the physics department, reports Demotivateur. After his birth, his father married, had 5 children and adopted 3 more with his wife. It was one of these three people that Dixon contacted to arrange a meeting.
On December 20, 2024, the man was finally able to meet his siblings for the first time. The following day, he met 55 people from this side of the family.
“I'm not going to waste any time with this new family. I couldn't be happier (...) I had great adoptive parents. I love and miss them, but I always wanted brothers and sisters, and now I have them,” Dixon confided.
