Zelensky's offer to North Korea
The Ukrainian president has offered the North Korean leader the return of two captured soldiers in exchange for Ukrainians held in Russia as prisoners of war.
“Ukraine is ready to send Kim Jong-un soldiers if he can arrange their exchange for our captured warriors in Russia,” Zelenski said in a message published in English, Ukrainian and Korean on his official X account.
“With the first North Korean soldiers captured, there will undoubtedly be more. It's only a matter of time before our troops manage to capture more,” said the Ukrainian leader, who added ”there should no longer be any doubt about Moscow's dependence on North Korean military assistance for its invasion of Ukraine”.
Mr. Zelensky also emphasized “that there may be other options available for captured North Korean soldiers who do not wish to return to their home countries and who express their desire to ‘move closer to peace by spreading the truth about this war’”.
In addition to this message, he released a video showing the two captured and apparently wounded North Korean soldiers being questioned through an interpreter.
