Zelensky warns: North Korea may send more troops to Russia
On Monday, December 23, the Ukrainian president claimed on his X account (formerly Twitter) that more than 3,000 North Korean soldiers had been “killed” or wounded” on the battlefield.
This is far from the estimates of the South Korean army general staff, which reported more than 1,100 North Korean soldiers killed or wounded in the fighting with the Ukrainian armed forces.
In early August, Ukraine launched a surprise offensive in the Kursk region, in western Russia. To support the Russian forces, North Korean troops were deployed on Russian territory. At least, that's what the West claims. And Volodymyr Zelensky warned: “There are risks that North Korea will send additional troops and military equipment to the Russian army.” He also promised “tangible responses” from Kiev.
