Donald Trump considers declaring national economic emergency to impose widespread tariffs

Donald Trump is reportedly considering declaring a national economic emergency to impose tariffs across several industries, according to CNN.

Multiple sources suggest that this move would allow the president-elect to implement tariffs on both allies and adversaries using the Economic Emergency Powers Act.

Under this status, the billionaire could restructure tariff policies without needing to provide justification. A source interviewed by CNN stated that "nothing is off the table" at this point.

This speculation arises as Donald Trump continues to issue threats against Panama and Greenland. The future U.S. president has expressed hopes of forcing both nations into compliance through military pressure or economic leverage.

During a press conference held at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Donald Trump claimed that the Panama Canal is controlled by China and should be returned to the United States. Regarding Greenland, he has threatened to impose heavy tariffs on Denmark.
