Mandarins or clementines: What's the difference?
We'll tell you how to tell these two citrus fruits apart.
The first and most obvious difference is the size of the fruit. Clementines are smaller than mandarins. Their skin is smooth and shiny, unlike mandarins, whose skin is rougher. As well as being smaller, clementines are easy to peel, making them perfect for children's snacks.
As 20 Minutes points out, while mandarins are available from autumn through most of the winter, clementines are harvested from autumn through to spring.
And in the mouth?
Clementines are reputed to be more acidic in the mouth. Mandarins, with their juicy pulp, are sweeter. On the other hand, there's no difference when it comes to the benefits of these two citrus fruits: they provide 61.50% of the nutritional reference value (NRV) for vitamin C, and 13.80% for vitamin B9.
