Did Portuguese MP steal suitcases in airports?

Portuguese politician Miguel Arruda was officially charged with luggage theft after several missing suitcases were allegedly found at his home.

The ball got rolling at Lisbon airport on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old man allegedly struck at Lisbon and Ponta Delgada airports, among others. When the news broke, he was expelled from his party, the right-wing populist party Chega.

The man vehemently denies the allegations, but according to local media, however, police reportedly have camera footage that clearly shows the Portuguese politician grabbing his suitcase and a second, smaller suitcase from the baggage carousel. He then places the second suitcase on top of his own suitcase. Moments later, he emerges from the toilets with only his own, large suitcase.

Miguel Arruda could not be arrested because he enjoys parliamentary immunity, although he himself asked for the waiver of that immunity this week.
