Woman (23) dies after injecting lip fillers: family warns of dangerous hype
23-year-old Astrid from Kasterlee (Antwerp, Belgium) died six days after she was injected with lip fillers.
This makes the young twenty-something the first fatality from lip fillers in Belgium.
Astrid's relatives are sounding the alarm and now want to warn about the disastrous risks associated with the seemingly harmless lip filler hype.
Astrid died on October 19, 2020 after having lip fillers injected by a licensed plastic surgeon working at a clinic in Flemish Brabant.
Meanwhile, worldwide abuses with fillers and botox are seemingly reaching a peak. A signal for Astrid's family to warn people about the dangers.
'Wrongly injected fillers'
“According to the autopsy they performed on Astrid afterwards, her death was a result of the faulty injection of lip fillers,” Astrid's mom tells Het Nieuwsblad in a courageous testimony. “The fillers were supposedly injected directly into the vein and that caused a brain thrombosis in our daughter. Afterwards, things went quickly. In less than a week we lost her.”
Bad review after death: immediately threatening lawyers
When the mother gave a bad review after her daughter's death on the website of the beauty clinic where the doctor worked, she immediately received phone calls from lawyers threatening claims for damages. “Then you know enough. I eventually took the review off,” she says dejectedly.
Astrid had gone for so-called “Russian lips,” which involve more injections so that the lips curl slightly upward. This became fatal to her.
Astrid's family filed legal action against the doctor. But that case was dismissed. Meanwhile, the doctor in question continues to advertise fillers on his social media...
