Cult scene from “Home Alone” could have turned dramatic
A Christmas classic, Home Alone has been bringing our screens to life for over 30 years! While young Kevin McCallister never lacks the ingenuity and sadism to trap his two burglar enemies, Harry and Marvin, we suspect that behind the scenes lie some risky stunts... some more than others.
When you think of Harry and Marvin, the culprits who became victims of the 8-year-old hero's inventiveness and courage, you realize that supervising the behind-the-scenes stunts must have been no mean feat. One scene in the film, far from Kevin's twisted traps, particularly impressed the film crew: the McCallister family's frantic race through the Chicago airport to get to the gate on time.
A real Christmas miracle!
Actress Senta Moses Mikan, Tracy in the film, reveals this little “shooting secret” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter; a now cult scene that could have turned into a nightmare. She explains how the scene was organized, involving thousands of extras prepared to perform precise movements, a kind of choreography worked out by specialists so that no actor was ever threatened or hindered in his or her run. Actors running at breakneck speed and, of necessity, jostling, bumping into each other, stepping on each other... never forgetting to laugh. Fortunately, no one was hurt. A real Christmas miracle, as Senta Moses Mikan points out!
