Poland acknowledges “new victory” over Moscow with the end of Russian gas transit via Ukraine
On Wednesday, Poland's Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, welcomed the end of Russian gas transit via Ukraine as another victory over Moscow.
On the social media network X (formerly Twitter), the head of Polish diplomacy was quick to express his satisfaction, seeing the cutting off of Moscow's ability to export gas to the EU as “another victory after the enlargement of Nato to Finland and Sweden” in 2023 and 2024.
He also pointed out that Russia had already “spent billions building Nordstream (two gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea) to bypass Ukraine and blackmail Eastern Europe by threatening to cut off gas supplies”.
