Russian “camel” technique undermined by Ukrainian drones

The strategy was introduced by the private Wagner militia during the Battle of Bakhmut (in eastern Ukraine) between 2022 and 2023. Now, two years later, it's making a comeback on the front line.

According to the Ukrainian press, the Russian “camel” tactic has just reappeared in the war zone. It consists of using soldiers who aren't armed like “camels”, but are simply intended to carry military equipment and weaponry. Equipped only with body armor, their mission is to supply soldiers fighting on the front line.

However, the increasing presence of drones is now posing a challenge to these soldiers, who are becoming an easy target, whereas the use of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) was perfectly adequate.

On January 18, the Kiev Post published a video showing one of these famous Russian “camels” being killed by what looks like sniper fire, just after being identified by a Ukrainian drone in the Donetsk region.
