Donald Trump takes drastic measures against Colombia after planes carrying illegal migrants turned away
Donald Trump has ordered the implementation of 25% tariffs on Colombia after the South American country refused to allow U.S. planes carrying undocumented migrants to land on its territory.
The president addressed the issue on Truth Social, his social media platform, writing that the refusal by Colombian authorities jeopardized U.S. national security. He added that his administration would respond immediately to the situation.
As a result, a 25% tariff will now be applied to all goods imported from Colombia. Additionally, a travel ban and the immediate revocation of visas for Colombian government officials have also been enforced.
Donald Trump concluded his post by stating that these actions were "just the beginning."
