Zelenskyy hits out at Putin for attempting to ‘manipulate’ Trump
Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Vladimir Putin of attempting to "manipulate" Donald Trump by claiming he is ready to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.
On multiple occasions, Donald Trump has expressed his desire to end the conflict, which began in February 2022, as quickly as possible. Last week, the Russian leader stated he was open to discussions with the U.S. president.
"[Putin] wants to manipulate the desire of the President of the United States of America to achieve peace. I am confident that no Russian manipulations will succeed anymore," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a televised address.
The Ukrainian president has consistently expressed his willingness to negotiate and is even open to making concessions.
However, the Kremlin has made it clear it intends to retain the regions it has already captured and remains adamantly opposed to Ukraine joining NATO.
