Russian warship shoots German helicopter
A Russian warship opened fire on a helicopter flying over the Baltic Sea, according to the German Defense Ministry.
The Russian crew first fired warning shots near the NATO reconnaissance aircraft, which was conducting routine patrols in the area.
A spokesperson for the German Defense Ministry did not confirm media reports about an incident involving a Russian warship and a German helicopter.
However, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock brought up the incident during a NATO meeting in Brussels.
According to Bild, the German Defense Ministry has not provided further details on the matter.
The Foreign Minister recently stated that NATO would enhance surveillance and protection of critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, following an increase in incidents involving Moscow in the region.
