UN warns of attacks across Europe
According to Vladimir Voronkov, the UN counter-terrorism official, all of Europe should brace itself for the terrorist threat from ISKP, the Afghan branch of Islamic State.
In the aftermath of the cancellation of Taylor Swift's concerts in Vienna following a terror threat, Voronkov said ISKP is significantly increasing its clout, thanks in part to the support of the Afghan and Central Asian diaspora.
The group has been notorious since their attack on Kabul airport in 2021 and has carried out or planned several attacks since then, including on Cologne cathedral and a concert hall in Moscow.
Investigations have not yet linked plans for a suicide attack in Vienna to ISKP. Yet the danger from this terror group remains clear. German security services have been warning for months about the growing danger posed by ISKP.
