US provides last aid to Ukraine

The Biden administration has announced a new $725 million military aid package for Ukraine as President Joe Biden prepares to hand over power to Donald Trump in January.

The package includes Stinger air defense systems, anti-drone weapons, artillery shells, long-range HIMARS rocket ammunition, anti-armor missiles, spare parts, and additional support for repairing damaged equipment, according to the State Department.

This aid comes as Ukraine struggles to stabilize the battlefields in the eastern part of the country, where Russian forces continue to make daily gains.

With Donald Trump pledging to end military aid to Ukraine, the Biden administration is using its remaining time to deliver critical military supplies that could bolster Ukraine’s efforts in the conflict.

"The president has directed the Department of Defense to deliver the materiel to Ukraine rapidly – to ensure that Ukraine has the equipment it needs to defend itself," said Jake Sullivan, the White House national security adviser.

"Between now and mid-January, we will deliver hundreds of thousands of additional artillery rounds, thousands of additional rockets, and other critical capabilities to help Ukraine defend its freedom and independence," he added.
