“Extremely dangerous” bomb cyclone storms towards Ireland
Ireland is preparing for extreme weather conditions Thursday afternoon and evening.
Storm Éowyn is a so-called bomb cyclone and will possibly break European storm records. And its passage over Ireland could bring wind gusts of up to 200 kilometers per hour. It will be one of the heaviest storms ever to hit Ireland, according to European weather services. Meteorologists speak of “an extremely dangerous” bomb cyclone, which may break records.
“It really is a life-threatening situation there. The problem is that Storm Éowyn reaches its peak just before it makes landfall tomorrow morning (Friday morning, ed.). At sea, wind gusts of over 200 km/h are possible at that time. Especially Ireland and parts of the United Kingdom will be hit hard,” HLN weatherman David Dehenauw explains more about this exceptional phenomenon.
