Found frozen 50 years ago, hiker has finally been identified

In August 2024, an old disappearance story resurfaced in the United States. The man known as “The Man from the Pinnacle” has finally been identified.

In 1977, a hiker discovered the body of a young man in a Pennsylvania cave. Blue eyed and red haired, the victim was found frozen in ice. At the time, the disappearance of this young man shook the American public, who wondered about the identity of this unknown man. Initial findings suggested that the young man had died of an overdose. As reported by Futura-sciences, however, we'll have to wait another 47 years to unravel the mystery.

A member of the Army National Guard

On August 27, local authorities revealed that the victim was Nicholas Paul Grubb, a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, aged 27 at the time of the overdose.

It was Nicholas Paul Grubb's fingerprints that proved invaluable in this case, far more so than the DNA analysis. During the autopsy, they had been removed and then lost. In August 2024, a police officer found them in an archive. They were then taken over and analyzed by the FBI, who were able to compare them with those of Nicholas Paul Grubb taken after an altercation with the police.

The investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of death: overdose or ?
