Fires in Los Angeles: Celebrities had to flee their homes

As the City of Angels descends into chaos, engulfed in flames from a wave of fires, many residents have had to abandon their homes... including some celebrities.

At the beginning of 2025, a series of fires wreaked havoc in the chic Los Angeles neighborhood of Pacific Palisades, located between Santa Monica and the Pacific Ocean. California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency, forcing more than 30,000 residents, including many stars, to evacuate.

These celebrities included Tom Hanks, Ben Affleck, Steven Spielberg, Travis Barker, Mark Hamill, Adam Brody and his wife Leighton Meester, Reese Witherspoon and Paris Hilton.

Nearly 1,000 homes in and around the area were reduced to rubble, including Paris Hilton's home, valued at $8.4 million. The star saw her property ravaged live on television... Shortly afterwards, she declared on her social networks: “(...) Sitting with my family, watching the news and seeing our Malibu home burn to the ground live on TV is something no one should have to experience. It's in this house that we've built so many precious memories. It's where Phoenix took her first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London.” Nevertheless, she says she's lucky the losses are only material.
