Doctors dumbfound: Disgusting insect can survive in your intestines

A 23-year-old man from India went to his doctor with an excruciating stomach ache. A visit he won't forget any time soon...

The young man thought he was suffering from severe food poisoning. After numerous tests, including a digestive endoscopy, medical professionals made a disgusting discovery: a 3-centimetre live cockroach was crawling around in his intestines.

The patient then told the doctors that he had tasted street food a few days before the horrible pain started. According to him, it was this food that was at the root of his health problem. For his part, Dr. Shubham Vatsya, an Indian gastroenterologist, assumes that the insect entered the young man's mouth while he was asleep, reports Demotivateur. “Even we were surprised at how the cockroach managed to stay intact,” says the professional. Before explaining how they managed to extract the cockroach: “We activated the suction button on the endoscope, which allowed us to suck the cockroach into the suction channel, remove it from the body and save the man's life.”

A story that made the rounds on the web

“I'm going to pretend I didn't read that and move on”, ”Whenever there was talk of a nuclear disaster, it was said that cockroaches would be the creatures most likely to survive the radiation. Now we know that they can also survive inside your intestines, which is pretty impressive,” read a social media network post.
