Kursk: Russia has lost over 38,000 troops, according to Kyiv

The Russian army has lost more than 38,000 soldiers since Ukrainian forces launched a surprise breakthrough last summer in the Russian border region of Kursk.

Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, shared this information shortly after visiting troops stationed in Russia for several months.

In addition, over 700 Russian soldiers were captured during the offensive, according to the Ukrainian general.

The Ukrainian breakthrough began on August 6 and, despite losing half of the territory previously gained, Ukrainian forces continue to repel Russian attacks supported by North Korean troops.

In mid-December, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that 3,000 North Korean soldiers had been killed or injured since they joined the fight in the Kursk region.
