5 countries not to visit in 2025 - they're the most dangerous
International SOS, leader in international medical and safety risk management, has just published a map showing the 5 most dangerous countries in the world.
For security reasons, including armed conflict, natural disasters and infectious diseases, it's best not to visit these parts of the world. International SOS advises against visiting :
Ukraine: as long as the conflict with Russia remains unresolved, it's best to avoid the Ukraine, which is also the starting point for a much larger diplomatic crisis of international proportions.
Central African Republic: as reported by Demotivateur, the state is threatened by a serious humanitarian crisis. Rich in natural resources, notably uranium and gold, the Central African Republic is coveted by Putin's Russia and by Rwanda, which is increasingly developing its economic presence. Its leader, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, has severed all relations with France. In addition, the presence of mercenaries from the Wagner military group makes the Central African Republic hostile and dangerous for tourists.
Somalia: one of the world's poorest countries, affected by lack of drinking water and famine. According to the WHO (World Health Organization), the number of cholera cases is sky high. In 2024, the resurgence of the Islamic State has also turned Somalia into a hostile terrain, with almost a thousand fighters.
Sudan: since the fall of Omar Al-Bachir in 2019, tensions in the country have never been higher. Since 2023, and following the coup d'état of 2019, an armed conflict has been raging between the two generals behind the putsch, notes Demotivateur. The number of civilian casualties continues to rise every year. With the formation of several militias, it's very difficult for aid to find its way into the most ravaged areas.
Iran: in 2024, 31 women were executed in Iran, according to data from Iran Human Rights. Shortages of essential goods and repeated power cuts punctuate the country, plunging it into an ever gloomier economic situation. In addition, the Islamic Republic of Iran has suffered a number of setbacks in its dealings with Israel.
