Greenland open to talks with Donald Trump

Greenland has expressed its willingness to collaborate with the United States on territorial defense and the development of local mining resources.

Prime Minister Múte Egede stated that his government is exploring ways to engage in discussions with Donald Trump, who is set to take office on January 20, after the former president reiterated his interest in the territory.

Earlier this week, Denmark’s Foreign Minister affirmed readiness to continue discussions with Greenland, an autonomous territory under Danish political control.

In 2019, Donald Trump had attempted to purchase Greenland. The idea, which faced widespread criticism, appears to have resurfaced as a priority in his agenda for a potential second term. Donald Trump argues that Greenland is an "absolute necessity" for both American and international security.

However, Prime Minister Egede has consistently maintained that Greenland is not for sale and never will be.
