83 elephants to be shot to have their meat distributed among population

The Namibian government has come up with a remarkable plan.

Due to food shortages, the Namibian government has decided to shoot 723 wild animals, including 83 elephants. They then want to distribute the meat among people who are struggling to feed themselves. Due to severe drought, Southern Africa has been struggling with food problems for some time.

According to the United Nations, no less than half of the Namibian population will face a high level of food insecurity in the coming months. As a result, the local wildlife will be severely restricted in order to feed the population. In addition to the 83 elephants, 30 hippos, 60 buffalos, 50 impalas, 100 blue wildebeest, 300 zebras and 100 eland antelopes will also be killed in order to feed the population.
