Family electrocuted in their swimming pool...16-year-old son takes the lead
On August 25, five members of the same family saw their lives flash before their eyes when they were electrocuted in their swimming pool.
The incredibly frightening scene took place in a garden in Logansport, Indiana, United States. The Americans were relaxing in their swimming pool when they were suddenly electrocuted. The parents, their 16-year-old son, their 10-year-old daughter and a friend of hers were in the pool at the time of the incident, reports Midi Libre. According to information from the New York Post, it was around 2:30pm when the family began to feel a vibration in the water before “getting electrocuted to several degrees”.
The 16-year-old son, injured but strong enough to move, “took it upon himself, once the power went out, and had the courage to jump in and realise what was happening,” the local police chief told Fox 59. The teenager, as well as the local lifeguard, were both praised for their “heroic act,” without which things could have gotten really bad.
Authorities said one of the two girls was taken to hospital. Doctors are optimistic about her chances of survival.
According to the investigation, the electrocution was due to a technical incident: the pool ladder pinched the pump wire and broke the protective cover. The wire then came into contact with the water and electrocuted the five swimmers.
